George J. Sayer, age 92, of Oxford, NJ, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Brakeley Park Center in Phillipsburg, NJ.

He was born on February 28, 1920, in Elizabeth, NJ the son of the late Charles and Mary Sauer and lived in Readington Township, NJ for many years before moving to Warren County.

He Served in the US Army during World War II. Until his retirement he was employed by the State Of New Jersey DOT as a bridge inspector. George was a communicant and founding trustee of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Three Bridges, NJ. He was also a member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Jubilee Council 3294, Flemington.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Marie Sayer in 1997, a brother, Charles Sauer and sister Helen Jungblut also died earlier. Surviving are his daughter, Peggy Bailey and husband Roddie Sr. of Oxford, NJ; son Joseph Sayer of Michigan; five grandchildren, Richard Huber and wife Jennifer, Renee Quinn and husband Shawn, Roddie Bailey, Jr., Joseph Bailey and Christopher Bailey; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kayleigh and Aidan.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen's Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 23 from 6-9 PM in the Robert L. Ford Funeral Home, 38 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
